This is a part of a story from my book of Fairies.
"Lily is a garden-talent fairy. One day she found a strange seed."What kind of plant are you?" Lily whispered to the seed."That's it!" she exclaimed. "I'll plant it! After all, the only way to find out what a seed will become is to watch it grow." The plant grew up. "What kind of plant is it?" Queen Ree asked. "I don't know," Lily said. "I planted the seed in my garden, and took care of it." Some fairies began to grumble. "She doesn't even know what it is!"
"Good? It isn't good for anything!"
"Wait! Wait!" Iris fairy cried. "Everyone look! The plant grew fruit." Iris was carrying a yellow object the size and shape of a lemon. "Well," said the queen, "what is it?"
"I'll show you," Iris said. She set the fruit on the ground and opened her book.
"It is Ever Tree, it flowers only once, then grows fruit forever and ever. That's why it's called an Ever tree," Iris said. "Can you eat the fruit?" the queen asked.
"Yes, this fruit would make excellent jam,as well," Iris said. "You could make a delicious tart out of this juice." The fairies cheered. And they spent the rest of the night eating Ever fruit and dancing beneath the plant's branches.
